| FIC is pleased to present the 12th Annual Spring Figure Skating Show featuring club and competative skaters from the North Atlantic Figure Skating Club. This years show theme features the "Greatest Motown Hits". Show dates are Saturday, April 10th at 7pm and Sunday, April 11th at 2pm. | Lee Twombly Pond Skating Center at FIC - UPDATE |
The Lee Twombly Pond Skating Center at FIC is CLOSED for skating today to allow our staff to perform repairs to the outdoor refrigeration system. The outdoor venue will be closed indefinitley until system testing & repairs are completed & ice conditons return to normal standards.
Lee Twombly Pond is Northern New England's only refrigerated outdoor skating surface and is open for public skating 10am-9pm daily (weather permitting). The surface is professionally groomed and resurfaced multiple times per day to ensure top quality ice conditions for our skaters. Cost is $5 per person for an ALL DAY skating ticket. Falmouth residents skate for free outside with proof of residency. Please note that although the pond is refrigerated safe ice conditions are weather dependant and FIC reserves the right to close the pond at any time due to poor ice conditions. | | |
| FIC HOME TO THE BATH IRON WORKS - "IRONCLAD" HOCKEY TEAM |
FIC is the home arena for the IRONCLAD HOCKEY TEAM. In keeping with the Family Ice mission of "serving the community thru skating" the team will be competing in a charity hockey event against the Montreal Canadians legendary all star team on Saturday, October 11th -2:00pm at the Cumberland County Civic Center. The Bath Iron Works sponsored team will skate with a host of Canadians legend players that inclued Guy Lapointe & Guy LaFleur in an event that is sure to be a fun time for all hockey fans.
All proceed from the game will go directly toward supporting the Habitat For Humanity, Seven Rivers-Maine project.
IRONCLAD Hockey is dedicated to playing safe, fun, hockey to benefit local charities and to also just "lace 'em up" and compete with other local clubs.

| FIC RECEIVES NATIONAL INDUSTRY SERVICE AWARD |
Family Ice Center was recently awarded a STAR distinguished service award for its efforts in energy conservation and industry education support. Presented at the 2009 STAR/ NARCE National Industry Rink Conference in Chicago, Family Ice was recognized for its leadership and innovation in energy conservation, operating system design work and a committment to providing facility education on a national level.

Family Ice was recently selected to host its third STAR national training seminar from August 30th - September 2nd, 2010. | FIC Is Chosen As Host Venue - 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships |
Synchronized skating teams from around the country practiced and competed in Portland, Maine from March 4th-7th for the 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championsips.
Family Ice and the North Atlantic Figure Skating Club served as event hosts for this exciting national competition. FIC offered team practice sessions throughout the week and all competative skating events took place at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

| Family Ice Celebrates 11th Year Anniversary |
WOW !! It is hard to believe that FIC will celebrate its 11th Year of "Serving The Community Thru Skating". Mark your calendars now and plan to join us on the weekend of January 1st for a great weekend of skating, hockey and winter family fun. The weekend event will be capped off with a jam packed arena and the playing of the 12th Annual Dudley Cup Classic pitting local rivals Falmouth & Greely. The temps will be frigid outdside but the arena is always HOT for this New Years Day event. Thanks to all who attend and support us in making this day a memorable event.

"Lee Twombly Pond at Family Ice" is CLOSED for the 2009-2010 outdoor skating season. The FIC SKATE SHOP is OPEN from 7am-10pm daily for skate sharpening and skate rentals. Family Ice recently hosted a skate with Bobby Orr night. Customers and invited guests from Boston Cedar Millwork of Massachussets and Applicator Sales of Portland, Maine enjoyed a night at the rink with Bobby Orr. Attendees were treated to a four hour skate with the Boston Bruin great along with special prize giveaways and complimentary food & beverages.

| Local Speedskaters Bring Home Medals From Canada Event |
Congratulations to Griffin Ashey and Pete Stauber for their recent medal winning performances at the St. Croix Blades Speedskating Competition in St. Andrews, NB, Canada. The 13 year old duo brought home gold and bronze medals respectively in their division and competed in distance races ranging from 300m to 1000m. Both train at Family Ice Center and skate under the Great Atlantic Speed Skating banner.
The GASSC team is coached by local speed skating coach Karen Schilling and former Canadian National team coach Sue Ellis.

| FIC Hosts 10th Annual Spring Figure Skating Extravaganza |
FIC hosted the 10th Annual Spring Figure Skating Show on April 12th & 13th, 2008. The show theme this year is "Celebration" and featured over 90 of the club's recreational and competative skaters - including 2008 USFS National Novice Dance Team Golf Medal Champions Chloe Wolf and Rhys Ainsworth & bronze medalists Andrew Korda and Una Donegan.
2008 USFS National Championship silver medalist Ross Miner will perform at the Satuday night 5pm show & 2008 USFS National Junior Ladies bronze medalist Brittany Rizzo will perform at the Sunday 2pm matinee show.
To celebrate the show's 10th anniversary - National, World & Olympic Medalist, Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto tanithandben.com also performed in the Sunday 2pm matinee.

| Local FIC Skaters Win Gold At USFS National Championships |
Local competative figure skaters Chloe Wolf and Rhys Ainsworth won the gold medal in the novice dance division at the 2008 USFS National Figure Skating Championships in St. Paul, Minnesotta. Wolf (Falmouth, Maine) and Ainsworth (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) have been dance partners for seven years and train daily with coaches at the Family Ice Center, The Skating Club of Boston and with coaches at the University of Deleware.
Congratulations to the team on their victory over the best competition in the country.

| Family Ice Hosts the 2nd Annual JDRF "Skate For A Cure" Benefit Hockey Game |
The Family Ice Center hosted the 2nd Annual Juvenile Diabeties Research Foundation "Skate For A Cure" Hockey All Star Challenge Event. The game featured a team of North Yarmouth Acadamy seniors, Bowdoin & Colby College hockey players & ex-professional players against a contigent of local collegiate alumni from numerous colleges in the Maine, New Hampshire and Massachussets area. This years event raised just over $3,000 for the foundation. The public was invited to participate in the FAMILY SKATING session from 5-7pm just prior to the game and all public skating ticket sales were donated to the cause.

| Prudential Northeast Sled Hockey Tournament |
Boston has the traditional Beanpot Championship but Maine also has a championship that has acquired a tradition of it's own. Family Ice Center hosted the 2007 Prudential Northeast Sled Hockey League Lobster Pot Tournament on March 25th & 26th. The best teams from Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylavania and Connecticut competed over two days for the Lobster Pot Championship. Each team roster has several national level players and there will be several team members from the USA Olympic gold medal team that competed Nagano, Japan.
The 2007 Lobster Pot champions are the Pennsylvania Centre-Pedes.
The team luncheon and tournament reception was sponsored by Prudential Financial and featured a lobster meal for all team members, invited guests of Prudential and select members of the media.
